LARAMIE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE PROCEDURE
SUBJECT - LCCC/Albany County Campus
REFERENCE - Policy 6100
DATE - 5/7/90
NUMBER - 6210
I. Introduction
The mission of the Albany County Campus (ACC) is to extend to Albany County the unique services and programs of the College, as described in the LCCC Mission and Values Statements.
The ACC consists of three functional areas, each designed to extend primary college functions to the branch campus: Administration/Business, Student Services, and Instruction.
II. Administration/Business
A. Administrative and business services at the ACC are provided on site by the Dean of the ACC and educational services staff. All relevant college policies and procedures are adhered to, and administrative and business functions will be coordinated with the appropriate college personnel on the main campus in Cheyenne.
B. Because the ACC is distant from the main campus in leased facilities, the following special circumstances apply:
1. Selected administrative, business, personnel, and student records (or copies thereof) may be retained at the ACC if needed to conduct ordinary business or to provide needed student services.
2. Emergency procedures (fire, bomb threats, extreme weather, etc.) will be followed in accordance with Laramie Plains Civic Center (landlord) and/or the City of Laramie regulations.
3. Campus security is not available; however, some assistance and supervision is provided by the staff of the Laramie Plains Civic Center. City of Laramie and University of Wyoming Police Departments will provide extra assistance as requested. The ACC Dean will request assistance as needed, and will assure that faculty and staff have information concerning emergency and security procedures.
C. A community-based Advisory Committee will serve as a link to the Albany County community and will provide guidance for programs and services of the ACC.
D. The Dean of the ACC is responsible for assuring that appropriate college policies and procedures are implemented at the ACC. This includes, but is not limited to, employment of personnel, security of cash and property, key control, driving, purchasing, and facilities support.
III. Instruction
A. Instructional programming, scheduling, and delivery at the ACC is directed and coordinated by the Dean of the ACC, complying with all policies, procedures, and standards in effect for the college.
B. Course offerings are based on student and community needs, enrollment history, program and degree requirements, resource availability, and faculty availability. Specific course requirements will be coordinated with other LCCC faculty and/or divisions deans.
C. The ACC academic calendar is developed in the spring by the ACC Dean and submitted to the Vice President of Instruction. The calendar will meet college contractual requirements. The ACC calendar will be distributed to the college and published in the ACC class schedule.
D Standards for instruction at the ACC will be identical to those followed by the college, including faculty qualifications, student placement, course expectations, and evaluations.
1. Current course syllabi and/or LCCC course approval forms will be used by ACC faculty to develop their syllabi. Adjunct faculty will be assigned a faculty mentor to assist in course development and delivery.
2. Syllabi from ACC courses will be shared with appropriate full‑time faculty on the main campus for their review.
3. Hiring adjunct faculty is the responsibility of the ACC Dean, following all college, state, and accreditation standards. When hiring for newly added courses or in highly specialized areas, consultation with appropriate college academic deans will occur.
E. ACC faculty will serve as academic advisors to ACC students. Any deviation from a published program of study (a course substitution, for example) must be reviewed and approved by the appropriate academic division dean or program director.
IV. Student Services
A. Student services similar to those offered at the main campus will be provided on site by the Coordinator of Counseling and Student Services and educational services staff. All appropriate college policies and procedures will be adhered to, and student service functions will be coordinated with the appropriate college personnel. Services available on the ACC include but are not limited to: academic assessment and advising, admissions, registration, academic alert, tutoring, disability support, career and personal counseling, and academic support services.
B. Financial aid will be conducted by the LCCC Financial Aid Office. The ACC will provide application packages to students and will refer all other inquiries to the Financial Aid Office.
C. Admissions applications will be entered in the "short-form" format on the ACC. Application forms will then be delivered to the Admissions Office for final processing, storage and determination of residency.
D. The ACC will maintain a Student Government and Student Fee Allocation Committee as described in other college procedures. Other student clubs may be formed at the ACC, and students may participate in college clubs and activities as appropriate. The Coordinator of Student Services will ensure that ACC clubs abide by college-approved procedures #5950 and #5957.
1. Activities sponsored by the ACC student government and other campus clubs will be coordinated through the ACC Student Services Office.
2. The ACC will retain its own wellness center fees per Procedure #5958. These fees will be used to maintain a wellness center on the ACC.
